Description
Start with an easy and short walk (about 3 km), corresponding to the most amazing part of a much longer trail that goes around the entire crater top of Sete Cidades.
You will enjoy incredible views of the lake on one side and the island’s north coast on the other, in what is surely one the most panoramic walks you can ever do in the world!
After seeing the lake from different high angles, it’s time to go kayaking on it! Don’t worry, it can be tailored to any experience and fitness level, even first timers! This is the best way to truly immerse in the beauty of this special place, surrounded by the tall vertical crater walls in the peaceful waters!
After, you will enjoy a nice picnic like a true local, at the lake shores.
In the afternoon, there is still time to go explore the nearby west coast of São Miguel, famous for its natural pools in the lava rocks. We won’t say no to a nice swim if the weather conditions allow it!
Meeting Point
If staying in Ponta Delgada, pick-up is included at your accommodation.
If staying outside Ponta Delgada, the meeting point is the Tourism Office in Ponta Delgada downtown. Contact us if you wish to request a pick-up for an additional cost.
Pick-ups take place between 9:00 – 9:20. Please be ready at 9:00, but don´t worry if we take another 15-20 minutes to reach your location.

- Warm clothes and raincoat (weather conditions change quickly in the Azores and are worse at high viewpoints)
- Sturdy shoes
- Bathing suit, towel and water shoes (possibility to swim in Mosteiros or Ferraria)
