Full Tour Description

Follow the island’s waterways.

Chasing Waterfalls in São Miguel is a full-day active nature tour that follows the island’s streams, forest trails and coastline. Explore waterfalls in different settings with a local guide and enjoy short walks between scenic stops.

The day begins at Cascata do Limbo, followed by the Moinho do Félix trail, where paths lead through lush vegetation and past a historic watermill. After a break for lunch, continue towards Praia da Viola and Barragem da Fajã do Redondo, before finishing at Salto do Cabrito.

Lunch is not included. Bring your own lunch or request a €9 picnic per person from a local provider, paid directly to the provider. Please request it in advance.

The tour includes several walks on natural trails, with uneven ground and sections that can be muddy or slippery after rain. A moderate level of fitness and suitable footwear are recommended. Hiking poles are available upon request.

Travel in a modern 100% electric van with a local guide and a maximum of eight guests per vehicle. Join a scheduled small-group departure or enjoy the same itinerary privately with your own group.

Before You Go

Important information.

  • Pick-up and drop-off are available in Ponta Delgada, Lagoa and Ribeira Grande, as well as from Ponta Delgada Airport and the Ponta Delgada Cruise Terminal.

    Please provide your accommodation, flight details or cruise ship name when booking. We will confirm your exact pick-up point and time before the tour.

    Pick-ups begin at approximately 9:00 AM. As we collect guests from different locations, the pick-up round may take around 20 minutes. Please be ready at the confirmed location at the agreed time.

  • Wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes with good grip. Some trails may be uneven, muddy or slippery, especially after rain.

    Bring a light waterproof layer, water, sun protection and a small day bag for personal items.

    Bring your own lunch or request a €9 picnic from a local provider in advance. The picnic is paid directly to the provider.

    Hiking poles are available upon request, free of charge.

  • Island weather can change quickly. Your guide may adjust the route or order of stops according to weather, trail and road conditions.

    Tours operate in most weather unless conditions make travel unsafe or significantly affect the experience.

  • There is a break for lunch during the tour, but the meal itself is not included in the tour price.

    You can bring your own lunch or request a picnic prepared by a local provider for €9 per person. The picnic is paid directly to the provider.

    Please request the picnic in advance and let us know about any dietary requirements.

  • This is an active nature tour with several walks on natural trails. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.

    Some paths involve slopes, steps or uneven ground and may be muddy or slippery after rain. Walking or hiking shoes with good grip are recommended.

    The tour is not wheelchair accessible. If you have mobility concerns, please contact us before booking so we can discuss the tour in more detail.

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult. This tour includes several walks on natural trails, so please contact us before booking if you would like to discuss whether it is suitable for your family.

    Age-appropriate child seats are available upon request, free of charge. Please let us know in advance if you need one.

  • Free cancellation is available up to 24 hours before the tour for a full refund.

    If Pure Azores must cancel because of unsafe weather or operating conditions, we will contact you directly and explain the available alternatives.
